Veneer

When I originally built by plane cabinet, the back-panel was a cheap piece of 1/4" plywood from the home center.  I had been wanting to replace that panel, and I had been wanting to try using veneer.  I have a future project where I want to use some Walnut burl veneer, which can be a bit pricey, so I purchased some figured Anigre from the sale bin at my local Woodcraft to practice with. Below are the results.

Panel all sanded with some Danish oil.

Kitchen Chalkboard

This was another "honey-do" project that my wife had been wanting me to build.  The beauty of building your own projects like this is that it can be custom sized to fit in a specific space.

Bookshelves - Part 5

The bookshelves are finally completed and installed.  This was one of the largest projects that I have done, and I am incredibly pleased with the results.

Entry Way Shelf

With some leftover walnut from the bookshelf project I put together a quick entry-way shelf with some coat hooks that were bought from Hobby Lobby.  The hooks are for my three daughters (red) and one son (blue-green).  Same finish as the bookshelves, multiple coats of Danish Oil.

Fitting the face frame.  I am still figuring out how I want this to look so I haven't put the face-frame on yet.

All of the shelves are completed with a 1/4" thick piece of solid walnut glued to the front of each shelf.  The movable shelves were done with the Kreg Shelf Jig with only three holes per shelf.
